We’ve recently launched our first ever Virtual Challenge. The challenge… to cycle 800km in June! But what if you don’t like cycling or don’t even own a bike? Well, the good news is we don’t discriminate. You can hop, skip or jump your way through 800km; we’ve even heard whispers of someone taking on the challenge on roller skates and another on horseback. It’s all for the kids after all.

You can still make your way down the coast of Thailand (virtually of course) by logging your km’s manually through My Virtual Mission.

So let’s break some of the ideas down…

Running/walking

Obviously a super easy transition from bike to run/walk. Track your km’s as you usually would and they will automatically upload to progress you down the coast of Thailand. We have ultra trail runners joining the Challenge who have committed to smashing out the 800km solo but if you’re not up for the full 800km, you can rustle up some walking/running mates and do it together as a team.

Speaking of ultra trail runners, we have the amazing Lucy Bartholomew (who did her first 100km ultra run at 16) joining us for a chat on one of our daily zoom sessions.

Aerobics: 1 hour session = 8.7km

Who remembers Aerobics Oz Style? Australia’s most iconic television exercise program is making a comeback during lockdown. If you love a grapevine and getting up and about moving to some funky tunes, then jump on YouTube or 10 Play and get yourself into some aerobic workouts. You can do it all in the comfort of your own home which means you can embrace the neon high cut leotards and scrunchy socks to your heart's content.

Rowing machine: 1 hour session = 10km

Do you have a dusty rowing machine at home desperate for some love and attention. Well let’s get it cranking for this June Challenge. By setting yourself up at home you can still join our Daily Zoom Sessions to check out all of the celebs. We’ve got an interview lined up with an incredible guy who rowed 5,000km unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean. So if you’re into rowing then come and join us.

Now let’s get a bit more creative...

Roller skating: 1 hour session = 9km

Thanks to Tik Tok and social influencers, roller skating is making a comeback in a big way. And let’s be honest, roller skating is cool! Plus, for a chick that loves shoes, I could lose myself for hours scrolling through the amazing styles and designs. Fashion aside, this is a fun way to clock up your km. Grab a group of friends and roller skate your way through June.

Surfing: 1 hour surfing session = 4km

Surfing is a fun, and great way to get your daily exercise. Once you get into the water, surfing forces you to direct your thoughts to the present moment and in this current environment it is also non-contact so you can follow any physical distancing rules. Now to get to 800km you would have to be surfing for 6 hours a day for 30 days. If the diary/Husband/Wife won’t allow for that, you could set up a team with a few of your surfing mates. What a great excuse to get out into the waves… as if you needed one!

And, who knew these activities even existed!

Tae Bo: 1 hour session = 12km

Step back into the 90’s and let Billy Blanks take you through some rapid pace programs to get you moving. Tae Bo incorporates martial arts techniques such as kicks and punches and the programs are created with a do-it-from-home approach and emphasis on mind-over-matter. Who knew that 30 years on this exercise platform would be more relevant. Check out his living room series to bring fitness to your living room.

Calisthenics: 1 hour session = 4.5km

Admittedly I had to google this one. Wikipedia tells me that calisthenics is a form of exercise consisting of a variety of movements that exercise large muscle groups, such as running, standing, grasping, pushing, etc. These exercises are often performed rhythmically and with minimal equipment, as bodyweight exercises. I think you’ll be doing a lot of push ups, chin ups and jump squats to clock up 800km but who am I to judge how you show up for the Challenge!

The thing to remember is you don’t have to stick to one activity to join the challenge. Check out the Activity Conversion Chart to help you decide how you’ll clock #800KMSIN30DAYS

If you’re taking on the challenge and have a creative way to tackle the distance we’d love to hear from you.
