What's been happening around the home at Baan Home Hug?

The kids have been spending time recording dance performances and Loy Krathong ceremonies ahead of Hands Big Night In. They are so excited about the anniversary of Hands Across the Water and have shared many messages of congratulations to all of the generous supporters and Hands community. They are grateful for the love and support for the last 10 years since Hands became involved in the work up at Home Hug.

In August the kids embarked on a month of happiness through various activities and projects. Mae Thiew visited 2 patients in Krabi who are ill with cancer and was invited to be a lecturer at an organisation in Krabi which included organising activities and learning processes for the children. This wonderful woman has so much love to give which is demonstrated by her desire to provide all children with opportunities to learn and be inspired through education. In October, the kids will head to the mountains in the north where they participate in fun activities together. They typically go during the school holidays however this year due to Covid and the travel restrictions around Thailand, they had to reschedule. Domestic travel has recommenced in Thailand now which means the kids can get back to their annual trip to the mountains.

In other news, the Learning Centre and Community Nursery construction is now complete with only the fit out left to go. Once this stage is complete the centre will open up to the local community to provide early education to the younger children, and in the evenings the centre will become a digital learning centre for the older kids looking to explore their passions. Thanks to the support of the Seek Foundation, Digital Live group and Diakrit, this centre will provide a stream of opportunities for the kids during their formative years. Next month a photography training program will take place in the centre to allow kids to explore the digital medium and identify if this is an area they wish to pursue in their learning.
